elections

I'm not happy about yesterday's Republican gains. But I am delighted beyond words that Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina lost. Delighted to say goodbye to Ahnold and hello again to Jerry Brown. (Maybe we'll even be able to pass a budget now.)

So, not thrilled about the state of the country, but happy to live in California...

Not in CA anymore, but I still care about the state and a I EVER happy that Arnold went bye bye, and Meg Whitman was not elected. Perhaps they will now try to rebuild secondary and higher education and again provice the necessary support to people with disabilities. Or is it too much to hope for?

Geez, I cannot begin to express how happy I was Meg Whitman lost. I was all geared up for her to win. I guess it's not that easy to buy an election after all, because if it was, she would have been elected.

Also happy about Boxer, and Hasta La Vista the Governator. Bummed Prop 19 didn't pass, though.

Somebody - Atrios? - said that a world where Jerry Brown was back but pot got voted down was a weird one indeed... I was pleased that both Boxer & Brown ran serious credible races and took their opponents seriously enough to win. Losing either seat or either of them would have been a huge loss to the public discourse as well as a disastrous result. I was also pleased that the budgeting prop - no more of that idiotic 2/3s business - and prop 23, the pollution standards one, passed.

The rest of the country, though, holy shit, with a couple notable exceptions...
