elections

I'm not happy about yesterday's Republican gains. But I am delighted beyond words that Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina lost. Delighted to say goodbye to Ahnold and hello again to Jerry Brown. (Maybe we'll even be able to pass a budget now.)

So, not thrilled about the state of the country, but happy to live in California...

It just makes me sick how much she spent. Even a fraction of a fraction of that money would make my life so much better.

I voted for Prop 19, but considering all that could've gone badly in the California elections and didn't, I'm not unduly upset it didn't pass. I did think Prop 19 made a lot of sense, though.

I feel exactly the same way. The San Jose newspaper pointed out that 19 would have created an untenable legal situation and failed to create the infrastructure we'd need to regulate and tax marijuana. I can't disagree with that. Usually I vote against propositions that are well-intentioned but look like they'll cause as many problems as they solve, but in this case I had to vote for it anyway, just because it was the right thing to do. But I admit to feeling some small amount of relief that we won't be presented with the challenge of dealing with it just yet.

I agree - 19 not passing is small potatoes in comparison to things like Brown winning.

Also - so thankful 23 did *not* pass and got beat down so vehemently. I was so mad about that one .
