day by day

Yesterday evening I watched TCM's Easter rock musical double feature, Jesus Christ Superstar and Godspell. I remember seeing both films on TV in the '70s--probably the first time each of them aired on TV?--and being intrigued in my Jewish-kid way. Plus I liked the music (and I still do).

There's something quite uncanny about seeing Victor Garber and co. dancing up a storm on top of the still-under-construction World Trade Center.

"Day by Day" was one of the first songs I learned to play on piano as a child. All day today I've had bits of songs from both musicals going through my head, which is a rather odd sensation.

Godspell's songs are v.v. catchy. (And I still like the London concept album of JCS, with Murray Head as Judas. :-))

I've never seen either of those movies (though I've seen both shows on the stage and know the music well), so I had no idea that World Trade Center scene existed. So poignant now, in a completely different way than I imagine they ever imagined when they made it.

I get "Day By Day" stuck in my head on a pretty regular basis! Also "Prepare Ye."
