General Hospital is celebrating its 50th anniversary at the beginning of April. For a long time it seemed the show would be off the air before it could reach that milestone. For that matter, before Carlivati and Valentini took it over, I'd hoped GH would be put out of its misery! But the show is marvelous again. SOAPnet is marking the anniversary this weekend (starting Friday night at 10 pm) with a fifty-hour marathon of classic episodes (including episode #1). The schedule is here. My DVR's going to get a workout, because they have chosen their episodes very wisely (with only a handful of eps from the dire Later Guza Years). I'm particularly looking forward to the episodes from 1979.
