gwynnega: (John Hurt and penguin)
[livejournal.com profile] the_red_shoes tagged me, so here I go:

1) Total number of films I own on DVD/video: If you leave out my Buffy/Angel DVD boxed sets, I probably have less than 20 films on DVD (and a lot of 'em star John Hurt). I do have quite a few films on video, though.

2) The last film I bought: I think it was the English edition of Mr. Forbush and the Penguins, because the American copy is a ridiculously bad print (though only cost about a dollar) plus is stupidly called Cry of the Penguins.

3) The last film I watched: A really good documentary about the Z Channel (influential Los Angeles cable movie channel that we couldn't get in my neighborhood, though I watched it at a friend's house, and a friend of my dad used to tape films off it for him, back in the early 80s). A depressing film because of the personal life of the guy who ran it (his life ended in a murder-suicide), but a wonderful movie about the love of movies...

4) Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me:
Five just isn't enough...

Dr. Strangelove
Lolita (Kubrick version)
The Servant
Dog Day Afternoon
The Sweet Smell of Success
Bride of Frankenstein
The Invisible Man
Rosemary's Baby
Mean Streets
Harold and Maude
The Naked Civil Servant (okay, it's really a TV movie...)
The Osterman Weekend
Mr. Forbush and the Penguins
1984
Fargo
The Mother and the Whore
Wild Strawberries
Scenes from a Marriage
Smiles of a Summer Night
the films of John Cassavetes (can't pick just one...)

5) Tag 5 people and have them put this in their journal: (if you feel like it, and haven't been tagged already): [livejournal.com profile] ljs, [livejournal.com profile] lovesbitca, [livejournal.com profile] herself_nyc, [livejournal.com profile] darling_effect, [livejournal.com profile] paratti
