My ex-roommate worked the swing shift and she never turned off her phone to sleep. I never got it as she would complain that her on-and-off again boyfriend would call her all throughout the day and keep her from getting enough rest.
But yeah, it's completely her fault for not turning off the ringer when you had no idea she would be sleeping.
