lots to do, but puttering around instead
Dec. 14th, 2002 02:09 pmGetting a very late start today, though I need to go Christmas shopping...
Last night I'd planned to read Henry James The Princess Casamassima, but ended up getting sucked into
herself_nyc's "Mr. Grieves and the Fallen Woman" fic (which at any rate takes place in roughly the same period of 19th century London as The Princess C) and nearly half of "The Littler Bit" before conking out around 2:30 a.m. "Mr. Grieves" reminded me of how I used to be so interested in the 19th century when I was a kid - I read all of Louisa May Alcott's books between the age of eight and ten or so, and then read every Sherlock Holmes story. Then of course the Bronte sisters. It's fun to revisit that interest now (due largely to Buffy), especially because, when I was a pre-teen, all the other kids thought I was nuts to be interested in something so (to them) esoteric! It's definitely more fun being older...
Now to go Christmas shopping!
