Lover's Walk

Today there's an open house in my workplace, which means people keep walking past my desk, causing me to jump every time I'm doing something non-work related. But it also means we got free pizza for lunch.

Watched "Lover's Walk" on FX rerun this morning before work. (Sometimes when I have to drive across town to work, those FX Buffy reruns are the only thing that motivates me to get out of bed in the morning.) I've seen that episode a few times, but I still can't quite put my finger on why Spike looks different somehow in "Lover's Walk" than in season 2 and season 4.

Buffy: "But I can't fool myself...or Spike, for some reason." Interesting foreshadowing...

It's raining here in L.A. today, and I wish I were curled up at home with a book and a cup of hot cocoa.

Leonard Cohen

It's always gratifying when you hear a record you used to love and haven't heard in years, and it still hits you the same way. This weekend Christmas shopping I picked up a present for myself, Leonard Cohen's New Skin for the Old Ceremony, that I used to love circa 1988 (the record's from 1974) and haven't heard in forever. What a beautiful record. "There Is a War," "A Singer Must Die," "I Tried to Leave You," such great songs and haunting arrangements...I think it's his best.
