A Man for All Seasons
Mar. 6th, 2005 02:01 amI rented A Man for All Seasons tonight, which I know I've seen before - but it must've been very long ago (probably during my rampant pre-teen Tudor/Elizabethan phase) because I remembered almost nothing about it (and didn't know, for instance, that Leo McKern was in it, as I would have had I seen it after the age of twelve or so, when I first saw him in HELP!). What a great movie. Paul Scofield made me cry, and Vanessa Redgrave as Anne Boleyn nearly stole the movie without even having a speaking part. And John Hurt contributed a very measured performance as ambitious weasel Richard Rich.
Funny to remember that Tudor/Elizabethan stuff was my first fandom...
