dialogue tag overkill
Sep. 20th, 2006 03:40 pmI'm enjoying Stephenie Meyer's YA vampire book, Twilight, but oh god, attack of the unnecessary dialogue tags!
"That's not it," he disagreed.
"If you do that, I'll kill you," I threatened.
"I'm fine," I smiled.
It's a good thing I'm listening to an audiobook of this instead of reading it, or I'd be tempted to go at the book with a red pen. Ms. Meyer, don't be afraid of the word "said"!
