mail! soaps!
Jul. 25th, 2008 12:35 pmYesterday's mail brought the beautiful purple hand-dyed silk "Alchemy Scarf" made by
nwhepcat which I won in the
livelongnmarry auction. Yay! It is gorgeous.
The mail also brought a used copy of one of my favorite books from when I was a preteen, Tunes for a Small Harmonica by Barbara Wersba. Anybody else remember this book (and has anyone read anything else by Wersba)? I read and reread it when I got my hands on it at the library--probably the year it came out (1976) or shortly thereafter. It's about a rebellious teenage girl in New York who falls in love with her poetry teacher. What I didn't remember was how full of poetry references it is (because I didn't have a clue at age eleven who, for example, Christopher Smart was).
( this week's Ryan's Hope )
