Saturday misadventures
May. 8th, 2010 07:34 pmToday I continued Operation Declutter by bringing a bag of books to trade at Mystery and Imagination Bookstore. They had the next three Amanda Cross mysteries I haven't read, so I got those: No Word From Winifred, A Trap for Fools, and The Players Come Again.
Then I stopped at Staples and bought some bookends and storage boxes. I had to explain to the young salesclerk what bookends are!
When I got home, I discovered part of my kitchen rug was dark with water, and there were patches of water all over the floor. At first I thought my refrigerator had conked out, but fortunately that wasn't the case. Then I discovered (by slipping and falling on my knee) that there was water on the bathroom floor and counter too. Turns out my upstairs neighbor had had a flood. I'm sort of glad I wasn't home when it was in progress, because there's nothing worse than water suddenly seeping into your apartment for no apparent reason! Anyway, fortunately nothing was damaged (though I did have to buy a new toothbrush). I decompressed by watching new Who...
