Doctor Who - Love and Monsters

I wasn't expecting much with this week's Who, but I really loved it. I adored Elton and Ursula and the LINDA bunch, and loved the Jackie scenes. What there was of the Doctor and Rose, I liked, but I didn't find myself wishing for more - I was so engaged by the new characters. (And I did laugh during that Benny Hill-esque chase scene at the beginning.) Aside from the monsters, this ep reminded me a lot of RTD's earlier, more "domestic" work - QaF and Bob & Rose especially. He has such a deft, quiet touch at characterizing "ordinary," quirky people and showing how relationships develop. As for the monsters, there was real horror when the creature of the week began to pick off the LINDA group. I'm really looking forward to rewatching this one.
