Roscoe Born!

According to Daytime Confidential, soap star Roscoe Born is joining the cast of Days of Our Lives at the end of May. Yay! I was hoping he would wind up back on One Life to Live (even though his OLTL character Mitch Laurence is currently dead), especially now that the scab-penned eps are finally over and the show has returned to full strength with Ron Carlivati's writing--but I'm always happy to see Born on my screen.

Speaking of OLTL and Roscoe Born, here's a cracktastic clip from 2002 featuring Born as the villainous Mitch, plus the marvelous Erika Slezak as Viki, and a bit of Born's Ryan's Hope castmate Ilene Kristen as Roxy. This storyline ("Surprise, Viki--I'm the father of ONE of your twin daughters!") is insane, but Born and Slezak sell it with all they've got. And so, here's Mitch, Viki, and the Iced Tea of Evil:

He's great. He's been on so many soaps, too: Ryan's Hope, Santa Barbara, One Life To Live, The Young and the Restless, Passions...I'm probably leaving some out!

Oh, Roscoe Born -- such a smoky voice. [happy sigh] Friends who knew Santa Barbara writers said that RB was always borderline nuts, but oh, the acting! :-)

When I was a teen back in the mid-'70s, I remember my darling great-aunt confessing, with only mild embarrassment, that she watched OLTL. We were at my grandmother's little summer house in Maine, and my aunt turned on the TV and explained to me all about Viki, the good girl, and how at night she put on a black wig and turned into Niki, that bad girl. Amazing to see how long that storyline kept working.

Viki-Niki never gets old...largely because Erika Slezak is so amazing. That's a nice story about your great-aunt--so many people have stories about being introduced to soaps by their grandparents and other family members!

Wow, the iced tea of evil is amazing! I don't have the patience to watch soaps in real time, but that was terribly amusing.

YouTube can be excellent for providing those essential and/or cracktastic few minutes of a soap!
