gwynnegaI'm packing for World Fantasy. Delighted that for once I don't have to get up at the crack of dawn for my flight. Not delighted that the trip to the airport will take longer than my actual flight. Ah well. I'd like to work on chapter 19 today, but I'm in that weird preoccupied pre-travel state. Maybe after dinner.
The other day I was writing a scene in which my protagonist Jo is watching late-night TV, and I couldn't find any info on the web about the kinds of late-night TV prevalent in NYC in 1976. Next thing I knew, I'd ordered a copy of the NYC TV Guide from December 1976 on eBay! It arrived today, and it is very entertaining. It has Valerie Harper as Rhoda on the cover.
On today's Ryan's Hope, we get both Shirtless!Jack and Shirtless!Seneca. Needless to say, Jack wins that contest, but unfortunately he has to take a bullet to wind up shirtless. Then again, Seneca has to fend off Kimberly, which might be worse.
Shirtless!Jack: [is being patched up by ER doctor]
Siobhan: You saved my life! Again! I think you're wonderful, and not only because you're shirtless!
Joe: I owe you for life, Jack, for saving Siobhan.
Shirtless!Jack: Okay. Nothing must happen to Siobhan. I've already lost Mary, I'm not losing the woman I love too!
Gwynnega: Okay, he didn't really say that last bit, but I couldn't resist.
Later, at the bar...
Johnny: Siobhan, you're not going back to Brooklyn with Joe and Tiso, in the middle of a gang war! You're not safe!!
Joe: Siobhan will be fine. I give mycompletely worthless word!
Siobhan: I'm going with Joe.
[leaves with Joe]
Jack: You did the right thing, Johnny.
Johnny: Holy crap. If Jack's agreeing with me, things must be freaking dire!
