Oh, DON! He gives Megan the engagement ring of the real Don Draper, thus paving the way for a new marriage as based on lies as his marriage to Betty was. The reason Don lost interest in Faye is because she wanted him to face his Dick Whitman past head-on, and he'd rather get involved with starry-eyed Megan, who knows nothing about who he really is. Oh, DON...

Don says, "Just think of all the things that had to happen for us to get to know each other." Too bad he didn't continue his train of thought: "First I got drunk and screwed my secretary, then treated her like crap until she quit. Then my next secretary dropped dead. Then my ex-wife threw a fit and fired the nanny. And here we are!"

The one smart thing about Don's involvement with Megan is that she's good with his kids. He's visibly surprised when she doesn't go into a Betty-esque rage when the kids spill a milkshake. She clearly has a warm relationship with her family, which seems to have fostered an ease and warmth with children.

But I fear Joan is right when she predicts Don will make Megan a copywriter. Megan has expressed an interest in doing this, but that doesn't necessarily mean she has Peggy's gift. The Peggy-Joan scene in which they dish about Don't engagement and bemoan their lack of recognition is classic.

I want next season NOW!

Yeah. I think the spark totally lit when the milkshake spilled. I think he's going to go for custody of the kids. And, as Joan said, they're all between marriages.

Oh, but those Peggy/Joan scenes were a LONG time coming. They were fantastic! I'm glad they are finally breaking through the social roles they seemed to be playing out to each other. Well, I hope so, anyway.

I didn't even start watching until late this summer, so I've been incredibly flush in viewing. Now I'll just DIE from anticipation.

The question is, if Don wants custody of the kids, would he expect Megan to be a stay-at-home mom or would he lobby for her to be a copywriter? I would assume he'd want the former, but what will she actually want, after the rosy glow of the engagement wears off?

I loved the Peggy/Joan scene. It does seem like they've achieved some solidarity...temporarily, at least.

This season just FLEW by.

Good question. I can't remember - has Megan expressed much about moving up? I have a feeling Sally would definitely want to move in with them. But that talk with Peggy... Hrm.

Megan told Don she'd like to be a copywriter the night they slept together in the office, "I'd like to learn," etc.--though at the time it was hard to tell if it was just a ploy to be alone with him. She does seem smart, but she clearly has stars in her eyes where Don's concerned...

I hope he goes for custody of the kids. Maybe gets a restraining order against Betty - though it may be too late for her daughter. I always thought Don was her problem - but she's her problem and she needs help, help I don't think she'd want to take.

I think Megan will be good for Don. I hope Don will be good for Megan. Admitting he was the Dick who wrote on the wall - that was a big thing for him, and I hope will be the start of a new honesty.

Of course, by next season things will probably be all screwed up again. ;)

Betty needs help, big time, and I doubt she'll get it. The kids would certainly be better off with Don and Megan, or Don and a good nanny for that matter.

Megan seems like a genuinely kind person, but then again so is Faye. The difference between them is that Faye knows who Don is--so he ran from her and picked Megan. (Although admittedly Faye is not good with children!) All season Don has been less and less closed-mouthed about being Dick Whitman...but when Megan said, "I know who you are right now," he took that as his cue to tell her nothing. He likes the Don Draper that she reflects back through her adoring eyes, but I suspect once they get to actually know each other, it won't be so easy!

Ah, well. If it were easy, it wouldn't be much of a TV show. :)

Still getting over the sight of Don towering over Danny Strong, knowing that he and I are the same height.

Yeah, I really liked that he was open about being Dick to his kids. I hope it means the start of something, too!
