It is Henna Day, and we're having another heat wave. Tomorrow I'm going to see Planet of the Apes (1968) on a big screen. I've never seen any of the original series of films in a theater, and I would love to see the whole series that way (except perhaps Beneath the Planet of the Apes, which I have a grudge on because it features a different actor than Roddy McDowall as Cornelius).

I'm trying not to be entirely consumed by politics, but it isn't easy these days.

At least the DNC won't be a freaking White Power rally. If I can just keep myself from going ballistic at friends who make noises about voting third party. (On the other hand, pretty much all of them live in safely blue states anyway, so it's not worth my aggravation.)

Yes, I agree. I hope that by November the people who are thinking about voting third party will have thought better of it. I'm attempting to wait until October to go ballistic, so my exhortations will be fresh in people's minds when it's time to vote! But it's not easy.

Heat wave here too. And I can't cope with much politics but at the same time can't disconnect entirely, so it's all peek-a-boo. Ugh.

Mainly I'm trying not to get into too many political arguments online, though I get tempted.

LA offers many opportunities to see classic movies in the theater, and I almost never take advantage of it, but I made myself buy a ticket in advance for this one!

Totally off-topic! I know you're in Los Angeles, but that still puts you a hell of a lot closer to San Francisco than I am, and I feel you should know about this festival: I Wake Up Dreaming. The lineup looks spectacular.
