About half an hour to go before my hair finishes steeping and I can rinse it out.

I thoroughly enjoyed my double DVD bill of Before Sunrise and Before Sunset last night, reminding me how much I love that kind of talky movie. (Anybody out there seen the rather dark and long French film The Mother and the Whore? One of my favorite really talky movies...) Before Sunrise was sweeter, but I thought the dialogue and characterization in the sequel was especially spot-on...and Julie Delpy's character in particular.

Last night I also finished reading the draft of my novel. It needs a ton of work, and the thought is a bit daunting - but then again, at least I mostly know what needs to be done to make it work...

I thought they both seemed more like fully fleshed-out people in the sequel, rightly so, cause in the original they're young and talking about abstract things and what they want to do -- in the sequel, those are people with pasts, talking about them. Not sure whether Hawke grated on me more or less with the second film, but Delpy definitely put it in her hip pocket and walked away with it.

Go you!

One problem I'm having at the moment is figuring out whether I'm doing enough foreshadowing and dropping enough hints about certain secrets. One of those things that I can't come straight out and ask the betas about until it's all done.

Amen to Hawke being better paired with Delpy -- I read she had a lot more input in this movie than in the first one (the little semi-monolog she has about living in an industrialized society is from something Delpy wrote, supposedly). It did seem they were older than early thirties, although maybe that was because they were both so disappointed with how their lives had gone....

I did have somewhat of a problem with -- well, gee, what if his wife really does love him? what if she doesn't think things are that bad? what's going to happen to the kid? -- but I guess in a way that isn't the point. (My eldest stepsister, who spent a lot of time in France and whose ex-husband is French, also pointed out that if these two were French, it wouldn't matter what happened as long as they were discreet!)

Oh yeah, I'm really hoping we get another sequel, although I don't know what they'd call it. "Twilight"....?
