Last night I watched the original version of The Taking Of Pelham One Two Three (1974), which had some wonderful footage of seventies NYC (next best thing to the TARDIS I really could use for Jo book research). Earl Hindman (Bob Reid on Ryan's Hope) played one of the hijackers--apparently he had quite a career playing menacing types before he was cast as kind-hearted Bob. Plus Kenneth McMillan (Charlie Ferris) played a cop, and Anna Berger (Nancy Feldman's mother Beryl) played one of the subway passengers. Needless to say, all of these actors have vast IMDB pedigrees...

Though it's 1979, The Warriors might have some good footage, too. (And Michael Beck -- I always fantasized about him playing Jack Fenelli's secret son.)

Cool! :-))

(The French Connection is 1971, perhaps too early for you... but it's NYC, isn't it?)

I'm not at all sure I want to see the "Pelham 123" remake. I only saw the original a few years ago, and I loved it soooo much--especially the weaselly mayor, played I think by Bea Arthur's nebbishy husband from "Maude," who was obviously modeled on Abe Beame. And George's mother from Seinfeld as his delightfully tough and shrewish wife. And Walter Matthau repeatedly saying "Shaddaaaaaaap." I don't think even Denzel and Travolta can compete with that.

I've never seen "French Connection," either. I'll have to remedy that soon.
