poetry sale!

gwynnegaMy poem "when Ruth invented the Empathy Pill" will appear in a future issue of Kaleidotrope. I received the acceptance email yesterday, on my mom's birthday. Oddly enough, the last time I sold a poem to Kaleidotrope five years ago, it was also on my mom's birthday! I remember the day of that previous sale very well; I had a migraine (but I didn't have vertigo yet); my mom and I had Barone's pizza to celebrate her birthday (we had Chinese food yesterday), I was listening to Beyonce's Lemonade (which had come out the previous month), reading Elena Ferrante, and getting ready to fly to Madison for Wiscon. Things seemed a lot more normal (and a lot easier) back then. But it is still good to celebrate my mom's birthday and to sell a poem (especially on the same day).
