Doctor Who - The Satan Pit

I thought The Impossible Planet was a bit stronger, but this was still great. Very scary and claustrophobic, with the cramped tunnels and lack of oxygen and The Pit. (Also, music-wise, they seem to have stolen the Jossverse Strings of Doom.) I cried at Jefferson's death, and was pleased Ida and Zack and Danny lived.
I really liked Take-charge!Rose. At first I thought she might have been a bit too on the ball, but then I saw her as behaving the way, say, Barbara did after she'd been traveling with the Doctor for awhile. (I have to admit that I also loved Rose stubbornly wanting to stay behind for the Doctor.) I loved Ten rejecting the Save the Universe vs. Save Rose dilemma with the realization that Rose isn't just a victim. The Doctor's belief in his Companions is a constant in the series, and it rang very true here.
Loved Ten halfway down the Pit, rambling on about belief systems, and eep, when he went floating downward into nothingness...
I had assumed that the Beast lied about Rose dying in battle, but there's a lot of spec on my FL that she will in fact die that way. Honestly, if she dies saving the Doctor and the world, I think that would be a worthy end to the character, considering that I don't think Rose ever wants to go home again or to be left behind. But eek, the angst!

Date: 2006-06-11 01:35 am (UTC)Listen, I just went through my theatre programmes to find the ones for The Herbal Bed and As You Like It, which I saw during his first season for the RSC. I already knew I was going to love him. :-)

Date: 2006-06-11 03:43 am (UTC)I assumed that he meant she'd die fighting the Ood (or fighting Beast!Toby).
