So I finished the Secret Short Project, which I will be emailing off today. Today at lunch I was going to get back to the Joanna novel, but I was playing Magazine on last.fm, and Magazine's a band I always associate with Alfred. So at lunchtime I found myself scribbling notes for the sequel to Eleanor Bell...

Joanna: Hey, what are you doing?

gwynnega: Uh...nothing.

Joanna: Yes, you are! You're cheating on me with Alfred and Eleanor and Madeleine!

gwynnega: Well, just a little. Just a few notes. I'll get back to you tomorrow.

Joanna: I've heard that one before.

Alfred: Write about me! You know you want to.

Eleanor: And me.

Maddy: And me!

gwynnega: Oooh. That sounds fun...

Joanna: HEY! What am I, chopped liver?

gwynnega: Of course not. It's just that I'm in the middle of the damn rewrites of your novel, whereas the EB sequel is enticing in its first draftiness.

Joanna: Yeah, but if you put off revising my novel to work on THEIR novel, you'll only end up with having TWO books to rewrite. Because THEIR book will end up having problems too. After all, that book is set in the future! You have all kinds of things to figure out with that that makes all the research you've been doing about NYC and soap operas and Weathermen for MY book look like small potatoes.

gwynnega: You have a point.

Maddy: But OUR book is more fun!!

Joanna: What, just because it's got vampires? You know, a lot of people are sick of vampire books. My book has a GHOST!

gwynnega: [headdesk]
