Today I kept poking at the recalcitrant chapter nine revisions, but chapter nine just rolled into a ball like a pillbug and refused to cooperate.

This afternoon I met [livejournal.com profile] tesserae_ at Coffee Table, where I ordered apple pie and was astonished at the size of the piece they gave me, and T. and I talked and talked about politics. Then when T. was leaving, I ran into my grad school friend Crystal, and we chatted awhile.

Also today I finished reading [livejournal.com profile] papersky's Half a Crown, an enjoyable end to the series (begun with Farthing and Ha'Penny), though I think it's my least favorite of the three books. And I watched Michael Powell's Peeping Tom on TCM.

Tomorrow is Henna Day.

And I watched Michael Powell's Peeping Tom on TCM.

Which I forgot to tape, because Halloween party happened. That's what libraries are for . . .

It's quite amazing, and quite different from anything else I've seen by Powell.

I watched it with [livejournal.com profile] ericmvan in March and completely failed to post about it; I loved it. It guaranteed I'd watch Anna Massey read the phone book and I had one of those small brain implosion moments when I realized I'd seen Karlheinz Böhm years and years ago as Jakob Grimm in The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm (1962). I think it's an incredible cultural miscalculation that it blew up Powell's career.

I meant to ask also:

papersky's Half a Crown, an enjoyable end to the series (begun with Farthing and Ha'Penny), though I think it's my least favorite of the three books.

Why so? I have only read Farthing, although I plan to procure the rest as soon as I have money.
