On today's Ryan's Hope...
Johnny: Siobhan's coming home! Tomorrow!!!
Gwynnega: Wheeeeeeee!
Pat: You're gonna love Siobhan, Jack.
Gwynnega: Yes, you will!!!
I love how Jack is totally intrigued by Siobhan, and he hasn't even met her yet.
Meanwhile, I'm sort of liking Nancy Feldman #1 (and how she explains to Pat that she's peppy because she got tired of being languid all the time). Nancy #2 shows up far too quickly, and she's cutesy-annoying as hell. Then Nancy #3 is the lovely Nana Visitor.
Poor Tom. He was so charming when he was with Mary #1. Now he's alternately creepy and pathetic.

Also, Tom. Yeah. At first I thought they were going to do a "Quiet Man" sad story with him, but now I just keep waiting for him to belt Faith. Speaking of whom, I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this Faith, but I like her--she can act and is quite believable...and as far as new castings, just makes the awful Mary stand out even more. It's like they stopped writing the lines of Kate's Mary and are writing an icky Mary who we don't even recognize.

Date: 2009-01-19 11:02 pm (UTC)The hints are coming fast and furious, but when I first saw these eps, they totally passed me by--I guess I never thought they'd go there. Plus I didn't expect that Siobhan #1 would actually surpass the hype!
The Tom story does take a pretty interesting turn before too long. Catherine Hicks is probably my favorite Faith, but Karen Morris Gowdy stepped into the role so effortlessly, and she played the role the longest.
I think the writers' hearts just weren't into writing for Mary at this point. They and Mulgrew had wanted to kill Mary off when Mulgrew left, but the network wouldn't allow it until they were thoroughly convinced no one but Mulgrew could play the role!
