I'm amazed to find myself totally charmed by a storyline on General Hospital (which has been mostly dark and dreary for so long, but once was a bastion of romantic comedy): Sonny and Alexis chase their 18-year-old daughter Kristina to the Dominican Republic because they think she's marrying older guy Ethan (son of Luke and Holly). In fact, Ethan's getting a quickie divorce from his wife and is trying to keep things platonic with Kristina (partly because he's afraid Sonny will kill him). Kristina/Ethan have a great early Luke and Laura vibe, and I've always loved Sonny and Alexis's interactions--Nancy Lee Grahn brings out a comic side to Maurice Benard. I love that Sonny's mob world is being played for laughs for a change. I sure hope this storyline is a sign of things to come for GH.

I'm sure you applauded that line. :-)

The tropical-island setting was always great for soapy rom-com; there was good stuff on Santa Barbara too.

Embarrassing but true: when I was a kid, I thought the Dominican Republic was a made-up soap opera place just for quickie divorce storylines...
